Profile 

Candy Chan is highly skilled with an extensive background in civil and commercial law. She joined MannBenham Advocates in 2024, bringing a wealth of experience from her seven years in private practice as a barrister in Hong Kong. Candy’s practice encompasses a wide range of areas, including contract and company law, insolvency, property disputes, immigration, probate, personal injury, and ancillary relief. Her experience in Hong Kong includes appearances across all levels of court, as well as party representation in mediations and arbitrations. She frequently handled complex interlocutory applications in both the High Court and District Court.

Candy taught over 200 undergraduate law students as a part-time lecturer in administrative law at the City University of Hong Kong’s School of Law. Her dedication to community work led her to volunteer with the Vauxhall Community Law and Information Centre in 2023, where she worked as a BN(O) Scheme Caseworker, supporting Liverpool’s migrant Hong Kong community with welfare, housing advice, and bilingual resources. Her work extended to hearings before the County Court and the Social Security and Child Support Tribunal.

Volunteer & Community Involvement 

Candy has been deeply involved in legal education and community service, serving as a coach for the Justice Education Project Mock Trial by a Hong Kong charity SideBySide and a member of various Hong Kong Bar Association committees, including the Young Bar Committee and the Standing Committee on Civic Education. She advocated for and helped found the Standing Committee on Mental Health and Wellbeing at the Hong Kong Bar. For years, she provided regular pro bono community legal advice in the Duty Lawyer Service Free Legal Advice Scheme. Her dedication to the profession and community underscores her commitment to public service and the legal field.
