Marown Badminton Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the announcement of a new sponsorship from prominent Isle of Man law firm, MannBenham Advocates. The multi-year partnership commenced with a significant £1,500 donation for the 2024/25 season, alongside the provision of branded playing shirts now proudly worn by club members.
Based at Centre 21 in Douglas, Marown Badminton Club fields multiple teams in the Isle of Man Badminton Association leagues and competitions. The club maintains a strong ethos of inclusivity, youth development, and community engagement, attributes that have underpinned its sustained success over five decades. The support from MannBenham Advocates is poised to further strengthen the club’s ability to grow and flourish in the current and future seasons, with the firm already committed to extending their sponsorship into the 2025/26 season.
A key aspect of Marown Badminton Club’s community involvement is its support for Project 21, a collaborative initiative involving five local organisations; Mencap, Autism in Mann, Down’s Syndrome Isle of Man, Manx Gateway Club, and the Special Olympics Isle of Man. Project 21 is dedicated to providing recreational and sports facilities at Centre 21 for individuals with learning difficulties. A portion of MannBenham Advocates’ sponsorship directly contributes to the club’s annual donation to Project 21, facilitating the use of these vital facilities for training sessions.
The 2024/25 season has been marked by notable achievements across various levels of competition. Junior players secured a bronze medal in the U13 Mixed Doubles and victories in the U17 Girls Singles and Doubles. Adult members celebrated wins in the Men’s Handicap Tournament Doubles and achieved runners-up status in the Ladies Handicap Doubles. Additionally, club players earned gold and silver medals in internal singles and doubles events, and junior athletes proudly represented the island in UK County Tournaments.
Demonstrating its commitment to long-term development, the club has also introduced a new junior evening session aimed at nurturing the next generation of badminton players. Entirely volunteer-led, the club’s continued success is a testament to the dedication of its members and the invaluable support of sponsors like MannBenham Advocates.
MannBenham Advocates, a well-respected Isle of Man law firm, underscores its commitment to the local community through its support of various charities and initiatives. The sponsorship of Marown Badminton Club reflects the firm’s dedication to assisting organisations across the island in their growth and success.
Miles Benham, Managing Director of MannBenham Advocates, commented, “At MannBenham, we believe in supporting organisations that make a tangible difference in our community. Sponsoring Marown Badminton Club during such a significant anniversary is an honour, and we are proud to contribute to the future of local sport on the island while also supporting the important work of Project 21.”
As the current season concludes for summer, anticipation is already building for the 2025/26 season. Badminton enthusiasts of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join the club. Updates on training times and club news can be found by following “MannBenham Marown Badminton Club” on Facebook.
