Advocate Miles Benham of Isle of Man-based law firm MannBenham Advocates Limited, pictured above, was previously at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos in Barcelona, Spain, where he was recently invited to speak at the Small Jurisdictions I-Gaming Seminar.
Miles who had earlier in the month returned from the United States after speaking at the G2E Global Gaming Conference in Las Vegas said;
“ I was invited to speak at the global gaming conference in Las Vegas on the Isle of Man’s Internet Casino Industry and the opportunities that are available for casino operators to locate their Internet businesses in the Isle of Man. Over 20,000 thousand people attended the Las Vegas conference and it was a wonderful opportunity to promote the Island to an international audience.
The Small Jurisdictions I-Gaming Seminar, held in Barcelona was very interesting as it focused on the opportunities for operators of locating in the European jurisdictions of Alderney, Gibraltar, Malta and the Isle of Man. The Island may have gained a head start on these jurisdictions but it now faces fierce competition from them. I feel that despite the increased competition there are still excellent opportunities for the Island to expand the Internet Casino industry with quality operators. The current challenge the Island faces is to make sure we do not over regulate our selves out of the market. Whilst the large quality operators want to be based in a well-regulated jurisdiction, the regulations need to work commercially in a highly competitive environment”.
The Isle of Man is internationally regarded as one of the worlds best regulated jurisdictions in which to base an Internet casino operation. Current licence holders include famous brand names such as Littlewoods, Kerzner Interactive and MGM Mirarge.
